Lawrence Street Sighting: Lincoln Mark III

Scouting the streets of Lawrence, I often run into more classic cars than I would like to admit; sadly, most of these (like Minneapolis) are of the GM variety and made between 1968 and 1980 and are usually Buick. Ford products and subsidiaries, with the exception of Galaxies, and to an extent, vintage Mustangs and Thunderbirds, are quite uncommon, even in daily driver condition. As a whole, older luxury cars are quite uncommon in Lawrence, which is odd since most of the daytime residents I see in the off-season are older and drive older vehicles.
Lincolns, for whatever reason, are usually only seen in the post-1980 variety, be it a Mark coupe, or a Town Car sedan. Even in a drier area such as Lawrence, the pre-1980 Lincolns are not as common as their Cadillac competition. That mere observation made scouting out, and finally snapping this yellow-cream Mark III quite a treat.
Obviously, this example is far from pristine, but what forty year old car isn't? Aside from rust bubbling on the spare tire humplet, this old Lincoln looked to be in pretty decent shape.
The trim, for the most part, was spot on, and immaculate; the badges were all there, and the paint itself looked to be relatively straight given its age. Even the oft-missing hubcaps were still on; evidence that despite the minor rusting, this is a well-looked after, but driven car.
As a general fan of Cadillacs versus Lincolns, I will say this; I quite like most of the Mark coupes, and if this one were in slightly better condition, I would gladly drive it.
