Minneapolis Street Sighting: Cadillac Seville

The Seville has always been Cadillac's "baby" offering, until the Catera came along in 1997. However, in the 1980s, almost all the front-wheel-drive Cadillacs were smaller than one would expect from a Cadillac. Introduced in 1986, the third generation Seville debuted with a 4.1L V8 as the initial engine choice. In coming years, a few more new engines would be offered. The "4.5 Liter V8" moniker marks this particular example as a 1988-1990 model year Seville.
Seen as luxury cars in their day,as most Cadillacs (excluding the Cimmaron) were, these cars depreciated rather quickly. For a car that started in the low $30,000 range when new, the price now is surprisingly cheap. You can pick one up now for less than a grand in decent, rust-free, running condition Inferior examples will run a bit less. Now, I know the car is 25 years old, but still. I imagine, with any Cadillac, these might start creeping up in value over the years. I would say you should rush out and buy one today, but, alas, not many remain in any condition. Finding a decent one could be a challenge.
This example was battle-worn, as I like to call it. Although it looks like the owner did their best to keep it in decent condition, the elements have gradually taken their toll on the vehicle. The paint is slightly worn, although the factory shine is still intact. Like all Minnesota cars, though, this example has been able to escape the rust bug. Quite a shame, too, because aside from the gas-cap and lower door rot, this Seville looks remarkably pristine; it even has the "Key" logo on it, from a local Cadillac dealership.
Since this shoot, I have found a couple more of this vintage, but neither one was as well-kept as this example. Are you ready for a beater Cadillac?
