Minneapolis Street Sighting: Oldsmobile Delta 88 convertible

Ya know, I'm starting to think the only fullsize GM verts sold in my state were the Oldsmobiles; I've never seen a Buick, Pontiac or Chevy fullsize vert. Ever-- wait, no. I shot a Catalina last summer. Still, though, these Olds Deltas are pretty common. Nevertheless, they're still effing classy.
I know I've blogged a bunch of these, but dammit, I love them. This example is slathered in an awesome color combination, to boot. You can't go wrong with a deep red and a white interior. It doesn't hurt that the stock wires are not only one the car, but in good shape, too. Even from across the street, this car has presence; not only because it's so freaking huge, and dwarfs the little British sports cars it shares the street with, it's just.. even non-gearheads were stopping in their tracks and inspecting this big barge of a convertible.
The paint on this example is--well, it's in daily driver condition. It's dusty, it's caked with road dirt, but there doesn't appear to be any rust. All the trim is intact, and in extremely awesome shape, especially given this Olds' old age-- even the taillight detail was undamaged. Inside, the driver-oriented dashboard layout is ever so obvious; all the controls, including the stereo, are skewed toward the driver, making passenger control a nono. This makes sense, given that these big brutes were labeled as "personal luxury cars". It's a shame that none of the other GM brands' convertibles seem to have survived the elements. Who know, maybe they just weren't all that popular?
